Hakka Lei Cha

This is Hakka Lei Cha or pounded tea. It is a famous Hakka dish. For your information, Hakka is a subgroup of the Han ethnic people living in Malaysia. Lei Cha is a mixture of tea leaves, mint leaves, peanuts, sesame seeds, green beans and other herbs, which are grounded and pounded into a fine powder. The powder is then used to make drinks or as a nutritional brew to be taken with rice. I recently bought Hakka Lei Cha from the Love Earth Day 2009 Exhibition. I have never tried Hakka Lei Cha before. I bought because I was impressed with its food container made from oil palm fibers.
